Mackenzie Herrington
I am 15 years old. I have two sisters and one brother, I am one of the middle kids. I have one dog, a golden retriever. I love music, theater, and some sports, like, swimming and basketball. There is a lot I would like to do. I want to study music and become a music producer but I also want to study many other things, like, marine biology, culinary arts, and theater. My academic life is important to me because of everything I would like to do and I want to accomplish a lot. I also want to study in Italy after high school.
I am very shy around most people unless were friends. Around my friends I like to do a lot and I am a completely different person. I am more outgoing and more of a fun person because it's easier for me to be who I want to be and come out my shell a little and just be myself.
While in this program I learned many things, not just about geometry but life lessons that I can take with me everywhere throughout my whole life, such as, leadership, team work, and good sportsmanship. Leadership is a huge one for me because of how shy I am and so this helped come out of my comfort zone so much even though it might not seem like it to others. Because of that, there will be lots of situations throughout my life that I will have to take leadership and now I will be able to come out of my comfort zone and be a leader. Team work is also big because this is something that is very important for so many things. If you can't work with others well, many people won't want to hire you and a career path you may want to take may not work out because there is always going to be things you have to do with others. Good sportsmanship is another big one for many of the same reasons as team work. But just because you can work in a team, doesn't always mean you have good sportsmanship.  This is very important though because no one will ever want to work with you if you don't have that and you will not make it very far by acting in a negative way towards others. Robert and Carrie have also taught me life lessons because they put so much hard work into something they really wanted and they put so much faith into a group of high schoolers to help build their house. That means something because this house isn't just a structure of wood, it is where so many memories and friendships were made and there are so many more to come for both of them. On top of all that, there is also so much I learned in the geometry portion that I now know I will actually use in so many real life situations and for future jobs.
As we all know, many of us will be going our separate ways after this and so I will most likely never see Robert or Carrie again but I just want them to know that they have taught me and many others a lot of different things. And I know that when I'm older with a family of my own I will be able to drive past the house and tell them about my experience and partake in building this house.
